What: The Greater Portland Flute Society is pleased to announce that our guest artist for our Fall event will be Sarah Jackson, Solo Piccolo of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She will be joined by local collaborative pianist Debra Huddleston. Sarah will be performing half of her recital on flute and half on piccolo.
When: 7:30PM

More Info: Sarah’s recital program will include La Tourtourelle by Damare, Pièce by Fauré, Ewasen’s Sonata No. 1, Three Sketches by Hoover, Liebesleid by Kreisler, and Sonata No. 1 for Piccolo and Piano by Matt Smith.

Participatory Workshop:
Bring your flute or piccolo for Sarah Jackson’s participatory workshop. She will share some of her wonderful exercises and tips.

Masterclass Performers:
- Ashley Teng will perform the 3rd movement of Ibert’s Concerto
- Alexis Evers will perform the following Orchestral Excerpts:
* Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 (Movement IV, m. 343-431 and 849-940)
* Stravinsky: Firebird Suite (Variation de l'oiseau de feu)
* Rossini: Overture to "Semiramide" (m. 132-143 and 329-337)
* Shostakovitch: Symphony No. 6 (Movement I, reh. 8-10)

Where: Aloha High School, 18550 SW Kinnaman Rd, Aloha, OR, 97007
Cost: GPFS Members: Free. One parent will be admitted free with every student member. You can join GPFS at the door.
Non-members: $5 general admission, $15 family admission, $3 students & seniors. One parent will be admitted free with every paid student admission.

What: Friends of Chamber Music presents Fandango!

Where: The Old Church, Portland
Cost: Prices are $30 - $55 per ticket and FOCM offer $5 student rush tickets.
More Info: Fandango! is comprised of flutist Eugenia Moliner and guitarist Denis Azabagic, both in the Cavatina Duo (which GPFS presented last season), along with violinist Desirée Ruhstrat and cellist David Cunliffe. More info is on the FOCM web site

Where: Newmark Theatre, Portland
Cost: Prices are $30 - $55 per ticket and FOCM offer $5 student rush tickets.
More Info: GPFS presented Project Trio back in 2012. For this concert, MYS students will be joining them on stage to perform a few pieces together. More info is on the FOCM web site
