What: Mark Sparks Flute Recital & Masterclass

More Info: The Greater Portland Flute Society and Brannen Brothers Flutemakers, Inc. are pleased to present flutist Mark Sparks, Principal Flutist of the St. Louis Symphony, in recital with pianist Debra Huddleston. Tickets will be available at the door and will be $10 for GPFS Members and $15 for General Admission. We are also offering Group Tickets for groups of 10 or more, in advance only, for $5 each. For group ticket information, contact Phyllis Louke at 503-579-6987 or e-mail. Immediately following the recital, Mark Sparks will teach a masterclass, also at Cedar Hills United Church of Christ. Approximate start time for the masterclass will be 3:30pm. Admission to the masterclass is free. More info is on the flyer

What: Wax Wings: The City of Tomorrow
When: Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 8:00PM
Where: The Old Church, 1422 SW 11th Ave, Portland
Cost: Tickets are $20/general, $17/Old Church Members, $15/students and seniors
More Info: Traveling avant-garde wind quintet THE CITY OF TOMORROW will perform new commissioned works for winds alongside 20th-century works by Franco Donatoni and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Framed in a semi-staged performance art style, this will be an unusual and memorable concert of wind chamber music. Among the wind quintets will be a performance of Shulamit Ran's East Wind for solo flute. More information is on their web site
