Flute Ensemble Event

All Levels and Ages Welcome

Join GPFS as we host our third annual flute ensemble event – a fun-filled opportunity to meet and play music with other flutists and try flutes.

FREE to attend!

This event is open to GPFS members and invited guests.

Day/Time: Sunday, November 8, 2026, 12:30 - 4:00

Location: Multnomah Arts Center; 7688 SW Capitol Hwy; Portland, OR 97219

Parking: On site - Multnomah Arts Center Map.pdf, and street parking.

Tentative Program:

12:30: event opens, sign-in, visit the exhibitors, try flutes, socialize

12:55: welcome and introductions

1:00: a brief body and mind warm-up session with Donna Maebori

1:15: a flute warmup with Alexis Evers

1:30: break, split into two groups - Group A and Group B

1:35: ensemble playing - play your own flute or feel free to play one or more of the demonstration flutes that will be provided by TBA

3:05 - 3:55: refreshments, socialize, more time to browse and try flutes

Select event sponsors TBA will be attending this event. They will have flutes to try and purchase as well as evaluating and doing minor repairs on-site.

REGISTRATION FOR EVENT: Please register to attend by clicking on one of the options to the left. You will be asked to register for one of the following groups. Playing levels for the group will be similar to prior years. You can also change group that day, and so on. Easy going!

Copies of the music we own will be available on the day of the event. There will be ample opportunity for you to play more than one part.

What to Bring: (1) In addition to your flute, we ask that you bring a music stand if possible. Group B participants can also try one of the GPFS low flutes!

Call for 2027 Flute Fair Member Performance and Workshop Proposals (20 Jan 2027)

Once you have all your information gathered, please click on the button to the left to submit your information.

INFORMATION YOU WILL NEED FOR THE APPLICATION

You cannot go in and out of the application. These are the information you will need: applicant name; artist/ensemble name; a range of contact information; short title; performance/workshop description; tentative program if a performance proposal; 100 word or less artist(s)/ensemble bio; a photo attachment; any weblinks supportive to the proposal; any additional links such such as to social media. Please have all of the information ready to enter at the time of applying.

On submission, you will receive an email confirmation that your information has been received.

WHAT IS NEXT

DECISION NOTIFICATION: Applicants will be notified of GPFS's decision by January....
FINAL PROGRAM: Accepted performance proposals will be required to provide their FINAL program and any program notes by February 15th, 2027 to rpwakeley@gpfs.org. Please keep this simple - title, composer (birth date), and - if any program notes - no more than a few sentences for each piece. GPFS reserves the right to edit these notes to accommodate the fair program.
FINAL DESCRIPTION: Accepted workshop proposals will be asked to provide their final workshop description by February 15th, 2027 to rpwakeley@gpfs.org.
LOGISTICS: Closer to the event, performers/presenters will receive an email with further details on directions, parking, rooms, etc.
EVENT DAY: You can stay abreast of event details at this webpage - Flute Fair
FLUTE FAIR DAY: Is free to attend for members. We hope you will plan on staying for the rest of the day after your session. Link: Flute Fair Schedule.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY: Please show up at least an hour.... go to registration desk etc.
WHAT TO BRING: Your music stand(s). Water or anything similar you may need.
RECORDING: Some sessions may be recorded with permission of the presenters/performers. These recordings will only be posted in the Members Only area of the GPFS website and on our YouTube channel through invitation only.
