Dr. Mihoko Watanabe, flute professor at Ball State University, will present a workshop and recital for the GPFS Fall Online Event!
The fall Zoom event happens Saturday, Oct. 23 from noon to 2:30 p.m. (PST) – and it’s free for GPFS members. Nonmembers may attend for a $15 fee.
Dr. Watanabe will show us how to connect mindfulness with beautiful playing in a 45-minute workshop, followed by her recital. The program wraps with an overview/interpretation of Mei (for solo flute) and Q&A. Mihoko’s study of Mei by composer Kazuo Fukushima resulted in the in-depth article, The Essence of Mei: An Exploration of the Inspiration Behind Mei, published in 2008 by the National Flute Association.
