The Greater Portland Flute Society

Formed in 1979, GPFS is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for flutists to meet, exchange ideas, gain performance experience, play in ensembles and generally promote and enhance flute playing in the Greater Portland Area. We are made up of flutists of all ages and levels; head to "About" to find out more!

FALL 2026

  • Student Study Grants Application Open - 9/15/26 through 11/15/26
  • Fall 2026 Guest Artist Workshop or Masterclass - Date and artist TBA.
  • Fall 2026 Guest Artist Recital & Q&A - Date and artist TBA.
  • Fall 2026 Playing Get-Together/Flute Ensemble Event and Social - Sunday, November 9th, 12:30 - 4:00 at the Multnomah Arts Center in Portland. Stay tuned. There will again be two groups lead by experienced teachers - beginner-intermediate and intermediate-advanced. Learn More: Flute Ensemble Gathering


WINTER 2026/27

  • First Tuesdays Online - First Tuesday of December or January through March or April 2027, 7:00 - 8:00 pm Artists/Topics to be announced this summer. Free one-hour online sessions from our talented members showcasing a performance or educational topic. First Tuesdays
  • Mid-Valley Flute Academy - Artist and date TBA. Tentatively 9:00 - 3:00 at Chemeketa Community College. For middle and high school youth, a half day of playing together, hearing a guest artist perform and participating in a fun workshop. Flute Academy, Salem

SPRING 2027

  • Flute Fair Guest Artist Concert with "TBA" - Friday, April 9th 2027, 7:00. Concert and Meet-the-Artist reception. Location TBA.  Spring Guest Artist Concert
  • Flute Fair Day, Saturday April 10th 2027 at Clackamas Community College. Guest Artist will be announced soon. Our annual, signature and huge event! A concert, workshop and masterclass by a world renown guest artist followed by a fun-filled day of workshops and performances by our extraordinary members, our Young Artist Competition, and a hall filled with flute exhibitors! Flute Fair
