February 7, 2023 – Portland-based flutists and GPFS members Alexis Evers and Robert Wakeley will share a performance of 20th and 21st century music for two flutes.

They will also share their thoughts about these three compositions for two flutes - the nature of the compositions and the challenges and joys of learning and playing them. This session promises insights into these atypically played pieces as well as an opportunity to meet and chat with Alexis and Robert!

  • Efrain Amaya: Pathways (2009), 7:40 (one movement), LaFi Publishers Ltd.
  • Phillip Glass: Piece in the Shape of a Square (1967), 15:00, Dunvagen Music Publishers.
  • Nicole Chamberlain: Chatter (2014), 3:30. Published by Spotted Rocket.

Teaser - “Chatter is a flute duet which uses percussive extended technique such as beatboxing, flutter tonguing, pizzicato, and jet whistle to mimic incessant talk that is often shared between two people who have some exciting news to share…..” (Publisher Notes) Attend the session to learn more from Alexis and Robert!
