Announcing a call for performers (c-flute or piccolo) to play in the 2023 Sara Lasky Flute Fair Masterclass, with guest artist, Zart Dombourian-Eby, April 23 2023 at Clackamas Community College. Students in high school through graduate programs may apply for this masterclass - you must be a GPFS member.
Zart Dombourian-Eby is the Principal Piccolo (Robert and Clodagh Ash Chair) of the Seattle Symphony and is regularly featured as both a flute and piccolo soloist and clinician in Seattle and across the world. Her performances have consistently received highest praise from both critics and audiences: the Seattle Times review of her performance of Gunther Schuller’s Concerto for Flute and Piccolo bore the headline "It was a night for flute/piccolo artistry,” and described her playing as "spectacular" and "phenomenal.” Alex Ross of The New Yorker wrote that she “crystallized Varèse's ‘Density 21.5.’” She is a Keefe Piccolo Artist.
Procedures:
1. Complete the online registration form on or before March 31, 2023.
2. You must be a qualified performer, either recently or currently studying flute in a formal setting, such as private instruction or enrollment in a school of music.
3. Notifications of will be sent out by April 8, 2023. You will be provided with more information at that time.
4. You must be a current member of GPFS. If you are not, please join first and then return to complete this application. Learn more or join here: Membership. APPLICATION CLOSE ON March 31, 2023. Notification of the results will follow by April 8, 2023. This masterclass is FREE for the selected performers thanks to the *Sara Lasky scholarship fund.
