- Save the Date - Flute Academy Website Link: Scheduled for 2/12/22, likely online. Details are yet to be determined. Martha Long, principle flutist with the Oregon Symphony will conduct a masterclass and there will be a workshop on "Warming Up" presented by Sydney Carlson, professor of music at PSU.

Enjoy Gareth's Sounds from Home cd on ITunes or Spotify. It has familiar Irish tunes (performed very uniquely) and some less familiar. A less familiar tune on the recording - The All Knowing Salmon, Noogleshifty - which can also be found at his YouTube link. Stick with the full 5’47”. It is goose-bump inducing at the start, the tempo picks up as it goes and it ends with a jazzy effect. Seriously, one will never think about or look at a salmon swimming the same way! Also, overall, don’t mistake this Irish guy for someone who just delivers the Irish.

She also welcomes questions.

Includes access by the composer Deena Grossman to a PDF download of Island of the Spirit for flute solo. - Growing Student Memberships in GPFS - For this membership year (2021-22), the GPFS board challenges itself and membership to sponsor 30 youth memberships - value $15 each. These memberships can be "purchased" at the time individuals join or renew their membership by simply choosing that membership option on the form. Or, one can "donate" a Student Membership by going to the "Donate" option on the website - Donate.
- Link to Help Library: Consider donating to the current GPFS Lending Library campaign for modern music donations.

- Board Members Needed: Please consider serving on the GPFS board in an area of your interest/expertise. Particularly needed positions: More individuals are needed to serve in “General” positions of the board; and, representation from high school and college age youth. - Writers Needed: Please consider contributing to the content of this publication by writing reviews, articles, sharing your awareness of flute resources and events, photography or anything else you can think of. Message newsletter@gpfs.org.
